Royal Brumby

Designer: Patrick Yates

Course Description:

This authentic British links course is set on the coast near the fictional, but picturesque, village of Brumby in the North West of England. Given its suituation between England and Scotland as well as being only a few hours from Wales and Ireland, this links course has adopted a mix of different links styles. Opening in 1904 on prize Brumberry growing land (fictional fruit of the year 1903), the course was not an instant hit with the locals. In fact, until it gained its Royal status in 1948 and their house prices rose dramatically there were regular protests to its presence on such premium land. These days the course attracts players from all over the world and the locals love seeing new faces down the local pub. The course is reasonably long and plays firm & fast but it is not overly difficult to control the ball, make use of the slopes and enjoy your rounds :) Although re

Put simply Royal Brumby is one of the best courses in the game. It captures the look of a links course as well as, if not better than, any other course and uses the firm settings to offer a challenge without ever being unfair. A must play.

Fairly new to the TGC game. Can't believe what I've been missing. I've been at it for a few months and am just getting into being somewhat proud of what I've created. My focus of late has been learning from the best and this site helps. I played Royal Brumby for the first time last night -- very impressive. Definitely inspired me in some new ways from a links design standpoint. Looking forward to playing some of your other tracks.
