Muirfield 2013 Open

Course Description:

Muirfield. Home of the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers Located in Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland, overlooking the Firth of Forth, Muirfield is one of the golf courses used in rotation for The Open Championship. Muirfield has an unusual layout for a links course. Most links courses run along the coast and then back again leading to two sets of nine holes, the holes in each set facing roughly in the same direction. Muirfield, however, was among the first courses to depart from this arrangement and is arranged as two loops of nine holes, one clockwise, one counterclockwise. This means that, assuming the wind direction remains the same throughout a round, every hole on the course has a different apparent wind direction from the tee. No more than three consecutive holes follow the same direction at any stage. This recreation is based on the 2013 British open set up - see if you can recreate Phil Mickelsons stunning finish down the stretch.

One of the very best firm and fast courses that we have available. The greens are reasonable and the pins are located far enough back on the green to have a chance to get close, but the course is hard as a rock. It's links golf as it should be, but still very playable, and always a fun round.

The highlands update improves the one thing that the course was lacking, which is visuals. The better grasses and better textures now give this course a proper authentic look to go along with how well it plays.

I really have nothing else to add to that. It looks good, it plays great, and it's links golf... go play it!

I played the 2016 version. Very beautiful course with great visuals. I really like how the greens pop off of the brownish fairways. Tough greens to hit (playing no aids). Very challenging round that requires the ability to play run-up shots that land either short, or just on the green. Some tough driving holes as well.
